We will present the works of three very promising young painters. Linhuei Chen(b. 1981), Wang Yu,(b. 1993) and Chen Yiyi (b. 1989) all three graduated from different art academies across the Netherlands after immigrating from the respective homes in China and Taiwan, and have developed their artistic careers from there on. In their own ways they each possess the soft touch of the brush, and a true painter's eye for details.  In this exhibition, they share their views on everyday situations, moments, and objects they observe. Together their works create "Gaze of the Whispers"

We look forward to welcoming you and toasting to the new year!

Bio

Linhuei Chen (b. 1981) is a Taiwanese Dutch artist based in Rotterdam. Her experiences of diaspora trigger her to question its impact on the notions of home and cultural hybridity through memories. With her expertise in science and art therapy, Chen explores the possibilities of integrating paintings and objects with technology or participatory therapeutic projects to visualize mental images of transcultural people.

She received BA in Fine Art (painting) from Royal Academy of Art, the Hague in the Netherlands and other degrees in Engineering and Law in Taiwan and several Eurapean countries. Chen is also an active member of PANT, a platform for Dutch/Taiwanese cultural exchanges.

Yu Wang (b. Wuhan, China) is an artist based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Chongqing, China. She graduated from Frank Mohr Institute (MFA in Painting) in 2021, and she completed her BFA (2015) and MFA (2018) from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

In her recent painting practice, she has created a series of paintings that are closely related to memory and supernatural imagery, through which she combines concrete writing and abstract forms. Attempting to look back at humanity from nature or landscape, embracing nature and its invisible spiritual dimension, she tries to present how we exist in a multi-dimensional world in a still image.

Yiyi Chen is a Chinese artist based in Amsterdam. She was born in 1989, Changsha. Having lived in China for 18 years, she left her city for Singapore to study Product and Experience Design. During the study, she realized art would still be what she wanted to pursue.

In 2015 she began her study at Gerrit Rietveld Academie where she discovered painting as a means of her artistic expression. Her in-depth investigation of the relationship between  photography and the painted image became one of the driving elements behind a very sensitive series of painting that address the idea of being on a constant basis.
